Dr. Viveros obtained his PhD. in Chemical Engineering at the
Imperial College of Science and Technology in the University of London (
England – 1985). Presently, he is the director of the division of basic
sciences and engineering for the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana - Unidad
Iztapalapa (since April 2002).
In addition, in this university he is a
professor for the Department of Process and Hydraulics Engineering. Dr. Viveros
belongs to the national system of researchers in Mexico. Among the awards and
honors that Dr. Viveros has received, includes: winner of the award TWAS in
chemistry (1988), granted by the Third World Academy of Science (TWAS) and the
Academy of Scientific Research. Besides, he was the winner of the award “Sefin
del Medio Ambiente” (1991) and the award “Ciba de Innovación Tecnológica en
Ecología” (1994). In addition to the aforementioned, Dr. Viveros is a member of
Academy of Scientific Research, affiliate of “Academia Mexicana de
Investigación y Docencia en Ingeniería Química” (AMIDIQ), member of the
American Chemical Society (Petroleum Chemistry division), the Material Research
Society, and the “Consejo Técnico de Ingeniería Química, EGEL-IQ, CENEVAL”,
since 1998. Furthermore, he has been the coordinator of the PhD in Chemical
Sciences (Chemical Engineering) for the Chemistry department of the Universidad
Nacional Autonoma de Mexico-UNAM (April 1987-March 1988). He was the director
of the Chemical Engineering area for the Department of Process and Hydraulics
Engineering, from the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at Universidad
Autónoma Metropolitana - Unidad Iztapalapa (February1990-December 1992). Dr.
Viveros was also the director of the Department of Process and Hydraulics
Engineering, from the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at Universidad
Autónoma Metropolitana - Unidad Iztapalapa (December 1992 – December 1996).
Besides, he was the coordinator for the PhD in Sciences, for the Masters in the
Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at Universidad Autónoma
Metropolitana - Unidad Iztapalapa (March 2001-April 2002). Finally, Dr.
Viveros’ areas of academic interest are: Reactor Engineering, Transport
Phenomena, Catálisis, and Materials.
