Dr. Suzanne Giasson, is currently Associate Professor in the
Department of Chemistry and Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Montreal.
Her research focuses on the knowledge of fundamental basis that describe
surface phenomena, which are essential to develop processes or materials using
surface modification approaches. Understanding and utilizing the special
properties of polymer molecules at interfaces constitutes one of her major
goals. The approach consists to identify, quantify and correlate surface forces
and dynamic forces to the structure, properties and functions of interfacial
biomolecules and/or in thin complex fluid films. She is actually studying the
relation between the specific properties of polymer-coated materials and their
interactions at biomaterial surfaces in a biological environment. She holds a
M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Laval University in Québec, Canada, and
received her Ph.D. from the Université Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris,
France and the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.
